EDM Department

The MRI/Prompton Tool EDM department is your one stop shop for all difficult to machine materials. Our AgieCharmille Hyperspark is the pinnacle of Swiss technology. With its 4 millionths resolution encoders, and state of the art generator, it is capable of holding the tightest tolerances and producing the finest finishes. The 54 position tool carousel and large drop tank work area allow extended autonomous operation to provide short turn-around times and cost effective solutions to your challenging projects.

For smaller parts in low quantities with less demanding requirements, our Mitsubishi EA8 sinker is the perfect complement for economical operation. It’s ease of set-up permits simpler projects to launch very quickly.

Rounding out our major equipment is our Mitsubishi FX10K Wire EDM. This workhorse is a proven platform that is suitable for a wide range of work, from carbide or hardened steel tooling, to piece parts made from high temperature super alloys, this versatile machine gives us the capability to satisfy virtually any EDM operation. These machines, housed in a temperature controlled environment, are supported by a broad array of ancillary tooling and equipment. System 3R fixtures contribute to fast, accurate, and repeatable set-ups. Electrode production is facilitated by a bank of surface grinders with Herrman Schmidt spin/indexers. An AS9100 certified QMS, for customers requiring a formal quality management system, insures that only parts that meet or exceed customer specifications leave the building.
